Special trophies for a unique opportunity. The F1 celebrates its 75 years of life in Silverstone, the track which, in 1950, hosted the first race of the World Cup. And, in this context, the partnership with Lego stands out. In fact, the first three classified of the Great Britain GP, in addition to the winning stable, received natural -size trophies made by the Danish brand. The initiative follows what was already seen in Miami, when Lego had always presented 10 cars built entirely with bricks, finding a fair appreciation even by the pilots themselves.

details

It was the designer Samuel Liltorp Johnson who took care of the project. 210 hours of work and 7 builders were served in the Billund factory, Denmark, to assemble the pieces of the three cups. And the parties were glued to each other, in order to avoid particularly hard impacts during the celebrations on the podium. So a rather complicated process. The major difficulties were revealed by creating the winner’s trophy. A model faithful to the original version, starting from the color: trying to reproduce the gold, it has opted for colored bricks with golden chromed effect. Liltorp Johnson designed this memorabilia digitally with the aim of drawing the forms of the cup. Starting from 20,000 LEGO pieces, 2717 bricks were used, reaching a height of 59 cm and a total weight just greater than 2 kilos. The cups dedicated to the second and third place are white, while the trophy of the winning manufacturer is black.

special

The initiative was appreciated by Emily Prazer, Chief Commercial Officer F1: “It was great to collaborate with Lego to organize these truly special moments”. Julia Goldin, head of the marketing of Lego is equally satisfied: “This is the demonstration that you can do anything by combining creativity and bricks”. Stuart Pringle, CEO of the Silverstone track: “In 75 years we have experienced many magical celebrations in this system is also of the same opinion. This will also be special”.
