Alcaraz has been unbeaten on London grass since 2023. In the last two years he beat the Serbian Novak Djokovic in the final. The Spaniard also won Roland Garros for the second time this year.
Rublev took the initiative in the first set and appeared 4-1. Alcaraz came back to 6-6, but the Russian number fourteen in the world pushed through in the tiebreak. Then Alcaraz gradually took over the party. He struck 22 aces and won the second, third and fourth set every time thanks to one break.
“I played intelligent, tactically very well and that has to go to Rublev, one of the most aggressive players in the circuit,” said Alcaraz in the interview on the track. “I lost the first set, but I kept faith in myself. I knew I was going to play better. After the break in the second set, I became calmer and could think better.”
Alcaraz expects a difficult game against home player Norrie in the quarterfinals. “I consider every game on this wonderful job as a gift, so I’m going to make the best of it.”

Sabalenka without set loss to quarterfinals
Aryna Sabalenka has reached the quarterfinals on Wimbledon. The Belarusian number 1 in the world was too strong for the Belgian Elise Mertens in the fourth round: 6-4 7-6 (4).
Sabalenka, who missed Wimbledon last year due to an injury, has so far not lost a set on London grass this year. But it was, just like in the third round against the British Emma Raducanu, certainly not an easy victory on the Belgian, the number 23 in the world. The party lasted 1 hour and 37 minutes.
Sabalenka takes on Laura Siegemund in the quarterfinals. In her match from the fourth round in two sets, the German was too strong for the Argentinian Solana Sierra.
