For the second time in succession, Florida’s assistant coach Tuomo Ruutu was able to celebrate the winner of the Stanley Cup. He does not believe it is due to tax benefits.
Tuomo Ruutu has survived the Florida Double Championship to Finland. On Saturday, he participated in the legendary Bermuda Tennis Tournament and told about his team’s birch.
– It was a good party – and so it should be. When you win such a championship, you rarely come from the regret how much you have celebrated, Ruutu recalls.
According to social media, some of Florida’s players are still celebrating the championship. The screen took a bit of a time.
– After the match there was the biggest party. Then there were a few dinners. It was pretty much there.
Double championships are quite rare in the NHL. In addition to Florida, only Tampa Bay Lightning and Pittsburgh Penguins have been able to do it in the 21st century. However, according to the screen, it is not a matter of being enough after the first jug.
– in a certain way that [toista mestaruutta] wants more. Might think it would be the other way around but it [mestaruus] It feels so good that you want it even more in a certain way, Ruutu says.
Window open
According to Tuomo Ruudu, the choice of clubs is influenced by many things other than the wage. Atte Kajova
Florida is likely to have a long -time championship window for a long time. Gm Bill Zito managed to keep the championship body downright confusing.
From key players Brad Marchand, Sam Bennett and Aaron Ekblad The contracts ended last season, but Zito made the entire trio stay in Florida.
– Bill Zito has done a great job that he made his guys stay. And of course there is the reason why they stayed. He [Zito] has created a culture, and it is usually not worth going farther away from a good place, Ruutu sees.
When Florida won the second championship in the tube, it also meant that five of the last six masters have come from the so -called Sun Belt zone, the sunny state where they do not have to pay so much taxes.
There has been a lot of talk in the media that it is easier for Sun Belt teams to attract star players for themselves due to low taxation. For example, in Florida, the same salary is much more left in the same salary than in Toronto.
The screen does not start to estimate the tax benefit, but as a player he knows that choosing clubs is influenced by many things other than just a salary.
– Someone wants in New York, a big metropolis. Someone who likes outdoor activities, downhill skiing and hiking wants to Colorado. We want a little different things, Ruutu thinks.
He also reminds us that Florida’s teams have not always won. When the team was on the tail of the series, no one highlighted the state’s tax advantage.
– Nothing is black and white.
Head coach?
The double champion coach is definitely a hot name in the coach market. Even the next Finnish NHL head coach is expanded from the screen.
Is your goal one day to be the head coach of the NHL team?
– I want to be better every day when I go to the hall. I was a similar player. Some have already had a long time as a player, but it is best for me to not think terribly what happens in a year. I just try to get better and have fun at the same time, Ruutu says.
The man is obviously not in a hurry to be a head coach – or at least he doesn’t admit it.
– Let’s go in peace. Right now I’m in a good place. I go to the hall every day to learn. I have great colleagues and players from whom I constantly learn.
