The cause of the fire is still being investigated. The incident took place just after midnight according to the Spanish medium Ultimahora.
According to Bild, Passengers fled out of the plane when the fire was discovered. Some walked over the wings and jumped down.
Four ambulances would have been sent to the airport on Palma de Mallorca. Together with the Guardia Civil and the fire brigade that are stationed at Palma airport, the passengers were helped.

The ambulance staff eventually treated 18 injuries, six of whom were taken to two different hospitals.
The fire turned out not to be too large and could be extinguished quickly by the fire brigade.
