Emmanuel Gintzburger has been appointed the new managing director of the Italian fashion house Versace.
Just a few hours ago it was announced that Gianfilippo Testa is taking over the role of Alexander McQueen Managing Director for Gintzburger because he is facing “new professional challenges outside of Kering”. It is now known that it is going to Capri Holdings Limited, the parent company of Versace, Jimmy Choo and Michael Kors. Gintzburger will assume his new role on September 12, Capri announced on Monday. He will report directly to Capri CEO John Idol.
“I am delighted to welcome Emmanuel as our new Chief Executive Officer at Versace. He has a proven track record of building global luxury fashion companies,” said Idol. “We believe Emmanuel’s vision for Versace will help us achieve our ambitious goals for the future.”
New Versace CEO comes from Kering
Gintzburger has been CEO of Kering subsidiary Alexander McQueen since May 2016. Before that he held various positions at Saint Laurent. Most recently, he held the position of Worldwide Retail and Wholesale Director at the fashion house, which also belongs to Kering, from 2011 to 2016. He has also worked at Lanvin, Sephora and Louis Vuitton.
“I am thrilled to be joining Versace as Chief Executive Officer. I have long admired the house’s unparalleled style and fearless storytelling,” said Gintzburger. “I look forward to the opportunity to work with Donatella and the talented Versace management team to accelerate growth and strengthen Versace’s position as a leading luxury fashion house .”
So far, Cedric Wilmotte has held the Versace line as interim CEO. He took over in mid-January for Jonathan Akeroyd, who will take over the management of the British fashion group Burberry at the end of March.
