Moluccan footsteps was born last year, set up by two Moluccans and is now being rolled out across the country. It consists of an online knowledge base, where everything can be extracted about Moluccan history and culture. Everyone, with or without Moluccan roots, can draw out. There are also teaching packages, where the use of older Moluccans with their stories is indispensable.
The older generation Moluccans like to give speaking engagements, such as Augustinus Tuparia from Assen, who has been fighting all his life ‘for the Moluccan cause’. He does it full of fire, at times emotional with an occasional joke. The youth hangs on his lips. But after the lesson again, what RMS (Republik Maluku Selatan, Republic of the South Moluccas, ed.) Also means again, that is not easy, except for the ‘half’ Moluccan who is also in the classroom. He immediately spoones it when the others fail. The colors of the Moluccan flag is better. “Red, white, blue and uh, green right?”
Director Martin Lutke of CS Vincent van Gogh location Lariks thinks it is ‘a must’ that his high school is reflected in the Moluccans and the background of their story. “We are in our school in Assen, that’s the city with one of the largest Moluccan communities. Then this is part of it that you pay attention to it.”
