In their lives, women have to deal with health problems that require specific care and support. With the National Women’s Health Strategy 2025-2030, Minister Daniëlle Jansen improves the health of women and girls in the Netherlands.
Female -specific and female disorders
The health problems of men and women differ from each other. Firstly, there are female -specific disorders that only occur in women. Think of transition problems or menstrual cycle disorders. In addition, there are female disorders: diseases that occur in both men and women, but are expressed in different ways in men and women. These are, for example, cardiovascular disease or migraine.
Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport Daniëlle Jansen: “With the National Women’s Health Strategy, I will ensure that women receive appropriate care and support for their health problems. We really have a way to go, but with this strategy and the use of all those enthusiastic professionals in healthcare we are one step further.”
Timely suitable care
The National Women’s Health Strategy, which was published today 2025-2030, will ensure that women receive appropriate care and support for their health problems in time. This can be an estimated € 7.6 billion in income annually. The goals of this strategy are:
- Increasing knowledge about female -specific health problems;
- Increasing the use of available knowledge about women’s health;
- Facilitate appropriate care and support;
- Stimulating network formation around women’s health.
Cooperation
The strategy has been drawn up by means of various discussions between the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport and Healthcare providers, researchers and representatives of patient associations. Together with these partners, the ministry will work in the period 2025-2030 to achieve the four goals from this strategy. The ZonMw Knowledge Program for Women’s Specific Health, which has already started last year, will contribute, for example, to the formation of a national network of healthcare professionals, researchers, patient associations, insurers and employers. This network builds a platform with reliable information about female -specific and sensitive disorders, so that women can get the right care faster.
