A car with a trailer flew in the fire tonight on the Alderman Donkerstraat in Coevorden. In the Tuindorp district, it is already restless for several evenings in a row and residents protest against the arrival of minor status holders in the neighborhood.
A police spokesperson says they are not yet intervening tonight. “The fire is currently no danger to the environment.” Even in the days before, there was no intervention when supporters burned out in Tuindorp. “We intervene when a dangerous situation arises.”
The municipality of Coevorden indicated this afternoon that they were not taking additional safety measures in the area. Two weeks ago extra security cameras were hung.
Residents say they have been lied to the status holders. The municipality indicates that only minor girls (15-18 years) would come to Tuindorp. But that is not believed: boys should also be taken into account. A rumor that is refuted by the spokesperson for Mayor Renze Bergsma. “We understand that there are worries around asylum and living, but these girls deserve a safe and pleasant place to live.”
