On this very hot day, the beach of IJmuiden is packed with regular guests and tourists who want to enjoy a day full of sun and a fresh dip in the sea. Sun lovers are satisfied with bags full of sandwiches, sunscreen and water. How do they keep a cool head today?
One gets a little better prepared on the beach than the other. “I just looked it up in the car,” says a lady, “I’m going to dig a pit for my things, then they will stay cool.” Others are better prepared to the beach and have wrapped their water bottle in aluminum foil, or even very cool boxes with ice cream.
Another beachgoer has a very different tip not to overheat: “Be kind to each other,” she advises, while the waitress serves her on the terrace.
