A 42 man was acquitted of killing his girlfriend. In August 2023, the victim was killed by violence in a park in Roosendaal. According to the court, there is insufficient legal evidence that the man was the one who killed her. Thirteen years in prison was demanded against him.
The ruling is no surprise, because last week the suspect was already released. Both he and the victim comes from Poland.
Together homeless and without a job
The pair had a relationship and spent the last weeks before the death of the woman together on the street. Both were not only homeless: they had also lost their job.
The woman was found dead in a park in Roosendaal. She was killed on her head by violence. This should have happened on Saturday, August 19, 2023 between one o’clock in the afternoon and a quarter past six in the evening.
Her friend was arrested as a suspect. Camera images showed that the two were together on the day of her death and walked towards the park at a quarter past twelve. At a quarter to three that afternoon, cameras registered that the suspect only ran from the park’s surroundings to the supermarket.
Too little evidence
Whether the suspect was actually in the park within this time has not been shown. There is also no forensic evidence that the man was involved in the death of the victim. According to the court, there is no further starting points to make a connection between the death and the suspect.
Although he has previously used physical violence against the woman and the court does not believe in his statements, but this alone is insufficient to condemn the accused. The court therefore releases the suspect.
The police started an investigation after the wife’s discovery in Roosendaal:
