The change from Leroy Sané to Galatasaray has been determined for weeks. But at the club World Cup, the wing striker was most recently used for FC Bayern. Now the 29-year-old has finally said goodbye with emotional words.
“I will miss the team,” said Leroy Sané on Sunday after his last game for FC Bayern. “These are great boys, great players, the whole staff around it too. I really enjoyed it here.”
At the end of the Sané era, the record champion in the round of 16 of the club World Cup against the Brazilian club Flamengo had prevailed (4: 2). The international was substituted after the break and stood on the lawn for around 30 minutes in the final competitive game.
A clear conclusion was difficult after five years in Munich. He needed to classify the time correctly for a while, the foreign striker admitted.
After the Bavaria-Aus, Sané does not feel any evil blood. The summer exit made it cleared “in the good”. And the upcoming generation is already ready at the Isar.
Warm words from FC Bayern players
In Jamal Musiala there is already a worthy inheritance for the jersey with number ten in the squad, indicated Sané: “The boy still has a lot in front of him. I hope that he takes the time, continues to work and show what he can do.”
After months of struggle, Sané had not been able to agree on a new contract with FC Bayern. In the negotiations, his short-term change of consultant in particular caused significant moods.
At the beginning of June, he surprisingly signed at Galatasaray. Since his contract expired on Säbener Straße, the change is released free of charge.
His teammates said goodbye to Sané with warm words. Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer called the long -time companion a “great person” and “great footballer”.
Coach Vincent Kompany also emphasized that he had “nothing but respect”. “It was five nice years with him,” said Leon Goretzka, “now we have nothing left but to wish him all the best for the future.”
