The German record champion starts the game against Flamengo furiously. But then the round of 16 takes an unexpected turn – it remains exciting into the final phase.
FC Bayern briefly tasted, but did not fall: thanks to a competitive 4: 2 (3: 1) victory against Flamengo from Rio de Janeiro, the German record champions are in the quarter-finals of the club World Cup in the USA.
Erick Pulgar (6th/ owner), Harry Kane (10th, 73rd) and Leon Goretzka (41st) met on Sunday evening German time in Miami against the top Brazilian club, who was able to shorten Gerson (33rd) and Jorgho (54./ trading) twice and caused big problems to the Bavarians at times.
The Munich -based company has already recorded 40 million euros with the entry into the round of 16, including the 30 million euros. Thanks to the quarter -finals, 11.2 million euros are added. On the other hand, an end would have meant missing more than 60 million euros, which are still to be picked up in prize money.
In the quarter-finals next Saturday, the team of coach Vincent Kompany will now meet Paris Saint-Germain.
FC Bayern met a reflection of himself in Flameng. Before the game, coach Filipe Luís had made no secret of the fact that the German record champion served as a “reference” with his own way of playing.
The “role model” initially did better, practiced an immense pressure from the kick -off – and got a start that could not have been much better. After six minutes, Joshua Kimmich already hit the third corner kick, Pulgar extended it into his own goal. Shortly afterwards, Kanes flew slightly deflected shot from 17 meters from the inner post into the goal.
Flamengo? Seemed impressed, but only briefly. Manuel Neuer prevented Luiz Araújo (15th) with a crazy reaction. At the latest then the three -time winner of the Copa Libertadores was fully there, got more game shares – which was also due to Bayern: they were no longer as high and were no longer quite as aggressive as at the beginning.
And so it came as it had to come: Gerson Drosch, at the presentation of Giorgian de Arrascaeta, over a new way into the goal. From then on, the Munich team also played against tens of thousands of flamengo among the 60,914 visitors, but they kept their nerves: Goretzka also calmed them down with his tight shot from 18 meters – but not very long.
Again, Flamengo did not get stuck and received unintentional shooting aid from Michael Olise soon after the break, whose too long -standing arm by de Arrascaetas was made. The English referee Michael Oliver whistles penalty, Jorginho confidently converted him. And again Flamengo and his fans turned up.
And again Bayern stayed cool in the heat of the battle: Konrad Laimer conquered the ball in the high pressing, Joshua Kimmich fit on Kane – and the striker put the lid on it.
