The TT dominates Drenthe this weekend, but this week much more happened in our province. From a fight between BBB and Jetta Klijnsma to resistance to the construction of a hydrogen filling station. You can read and see a brief overview here.
The BBB is angry about a statement by the King’s Commissioner, Jetta Klijnsma. She said during a PvdA congress that the BBB in Drenthe has no driver experience, which yields ‘misery’. Not only the group in Drenthe politics was angry, the national group in the Lower House was also to say the least not amused. Towards the end of the week, Klijnsma came with apologies.
The Drents Museum announced its new director this week: Robert van Langh. He succeeds Harry Tupan, who retires. Van Langh comes from the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. He starts on November 1. He already has some ideas for the future, including for Museum De Buitenplaats in Eelde, which is part of the Drents Museum. He would like to do something with music in the garden.
For residents and entrepreneurs in the Colonies of Benevolence, there will be clarity this week about what can and cannot be done in their environment protected by the UNESCO status. Then it is about applying solar panels, but there are also rules about frames and the mirror of glass.
In Gasselternijveenschemond there is opposition to the construction of a hydrogen fuel station. The residents are particularly concerned about unsafe traffic situations and explosion hazard. The group of delivered villagers picked up 160 signatures against the construction of the gas station. That is about a quarter of the number of inhabitants.
And for the rest there is of course a lot of TT. For example, on Thursday evening, ten thousand people went to the Kop van de Vaart in Assen for the anniversary concert of the 50th TT Festival. Under the musical leadership of the Military Chapel Johan Willem Friso there were performances by Emma Heesters, Marco Schuitmaker and Hendrik Jan Bökkers. This entire weekend there was much more TT, which can be seen and read extensively on our site.
