Every year Drenthe villages empty on the day of the TT in Assen. Friends of friends often go to the job for years and if you live a bit in the area, you will of course do that by bike. This is also the case in Norg.

Roel Boelens makes coffee. During the TT weekend he works as a taxi driver and his working day starts early this Sunday. But even before the taxi is driven, Boelens sets a strong cup for thirteen TT-goers. He has been doing that every year: the coffee at Boelens prior to a day of Motorsport is tradition.

In Norg and the surrounding area there are several groups of friends who go to the circuit at the cherries of the day. Similarly that of Albert Flik. “I think this has been going on for about 25 to 30 years,” estimates Flik, adorned with fishermen’s hat. “I have sometimes missed a missing over the years, especially when it was still on Saturday. But if I can, I will go.”

The same applies to Kevin Harmsen and his friends who drink coffee at Boelens. “We do this for ten years, I think. First here two containers and then around 6 a.m. on the bike. Then the first beer will be drunk.”

The group of Flik has already caught the first one hundred meters away. “This is the tastiest,” says Flik. “When I get home tonight, they don’t taste as good as this beer.”
