Christian Groß could soon return to Werder Bremen as an assistant coach. The 36-year-old ex-professional is currently still working as a scout for Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
According to a report by the “Deichstube”, Werder Bremen is planning the commitment of Christian Groß as an assistant coach. Born in Bremen, he is therefore considered a desired solution for the second assistant position in the team of chief coach Horst Steffen. However, there are still a few details to be clarified before the training start on July 7th.
At the end of May, Werder announced that Horst Steffen would be a new head coach and thus the successor to Ole Werner. A few days later, the announcement followed that Steffen brings his assistant Raphael Duarte from Elversberg. Goalkeeper coach Christian Vander remains in the club.
Rumors recently circulated about several potential assistant coaches on the Weser. In addition to large, ex-professional Christian Schulz, Nelson Valdez and Ömer Toprak were traded.
Christian Groß started in the second team of Werder in 2018 and later became a top performer and captain with the professionals. For the SVW, the midfielder ran in a total of 118 games. Once he met himself, he scored six more goals. After his end of his career in 2024, he switched to the scouting at Leverkusen.
