As Lucky Loser into the final: tennis professional Jenson Brooksby had already failed in qualification at the ATP tournament in Eastbourne, English, but now he is in the final.
The American defeated the Frenchman Ugo Humbert at number four 6: 7 (7: 9), 6: 4, 6: 4. The last Lucky Loser in an ATP final was Jan-Lennard Struff, who lost the final against Carlos Alcaraz in Madrid in May 2023.
Brooksby initially failed 5: 7, 3: 6 on the Australian Aleksandar Vukic, but still moved into the main field – and started winning. Curious: In April he got his first ATP title on sand in Houston – as a qualifying.
In the final, Brooksby meets Taylor Fritz (USA). A Lucky Loser only won a tournament ten times in ATP history, the last one was the South Korean Kwon Soon-Woo in January 2023 in the Australian Adelaide.
