The German cycling professional Nils Politt is to help superstar Tadej Pogacar to successfully defend the title at the Tour de France.
As expected, the 31-year-old Cologne native is in the contingent of the team UAE Emirates-XRG for the 112nd tour of France, which begins on July 5 with the Grand Départ in Lille. For Politt it is the ninth tour participation. Last year he was already involved in the third overall victory of the Slovenian Pogacar.
Pogacar expects high level
“I’m looking forward to the start of the tour. I am lucky that I had almost perfect preparation this year – everything went really smoothly”said world champion Pogacar, who again tackles the big loop as a top favorite: “The mood in the team is fantastic at the moment, that gives me a lot of confidence.” However, one could never fully prepare for a tour de france, “She is unpredictable and that makes her so special”said Pogacar.
The main rival in the fight for the yellow jersey is the two-time overall winner Jonas Vingegaard (Denmark/Visma-Lease A Bike). “I expect a very high level from all other top drivers”said Pogacar, “It will be a big fight to Paris, but I am ready to give everything.” Politt is an indispensable size in Pogacar’s tour team.
