On the first weekend in July, the metal scene celebrates an event of superlatives: the scene founders Black Sabbath play their last concert together with all sorts of well-known bands. Only one is not there.

Wolfgang van Halen: A lot busy

Wolfgang van Halen explained his resignation from the show at short notice. The reason for this is an overlapping tour obligation. His band Mammoth (known until this year as Mammoth WVH) will be traveling together with Creed in North America. “The tour starts the day after and I would not do that – unfortunately,” said Eddie van Halen’s son. “I’m really looking forward to looking at the show, but unfortunately I can’t be there.” Wolfgang van Halen was announced as one of the first acts for the event in February.

Black Sabbath celebrate huge events

The big Black-Sabbath show will take place on July 5th in the football stadium Villa Park in Birmingham, the band’s home. Black Sabbath play the show in its original line -up: singer Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward – the latter has not performed with the group since 2005. In keeping with this, the concert bears the name “Back to the Beginning”.

On the side of the metal icons there are companions and successors who have long since reached star status. Among other things, Metallica, Slayer, Guns N’roses, Tool, Pantera, Gojira, Halestorm, Alice in Chains, Lamb of God, Anthrax and Mastodon appear – LineUp reads like a “Who is Who” of hard music. Only Judas Priest is missing – they open the anniversary show of the Scorpions in Hanover on the same day.

“Back to the starting” as a stream

As expected, the show was sold out within a very short time. However, a streaming offer was then set up-a ticket costs 27 euros, 60 euros in the shirt bundle. All revenues of the event are donated, recipients are equally Cure Parkinson’s, the Birmingham Children’s Hospital and the Acorn Children’s Hospice.

If you have an artistic streak, you can also win a live stream ticket. The band raffles three entrances from all artwork submissions to the event.
