Raymond Mens has asked the team of US President Donald Trump for a one-on-one interview, but there is no hearing. “Maybe next time.”

In recent days there was an incredible amount of publicity for it: Donald Trump’s visit to Kleine Nederland. He landed at Schiphol, went straight to the king and queen, attended the NATO summit and left again. A lightning visit and little time for things like one-to-one interviews with the media, although he did give a press conference.

Tim without a chance

Tim Hofman was present at that press conference, but he was unable to ask Trump. “It didn’t work. Maybe next time a jacket,” says Rutger Castricum teasing in The Oranjezomerpointing to the fact that Tim came alone in a T-shirt.

The great Americanner of SBS 6, Raymond, was not in the room. “I was not there, no. The point is: he is in a room with I believe about 2,000 journalists, so then you have to walk around for two days and maybe you can ask a question.”

Not to Raymond

Raymond did want to sit one-on-one with Trump. “I have tried via through, what you can always try, to get a one-on-one interview. Maybe he says:” I speak one-on-one with the BBC, “or something, and for fun, or out of charity, he also chooses one Dutch medium.”

He concludes: “I tried that, but he did not do that at all. He has not spoken to anyone one-on-one.”

Host Johnny de Mol: “Who knows, who knows, ever in the future.”
