Iran arrests 26 people for alleged cooperation with Israel

In the Iranian province of Khuzestan, at least 26 people were arrested on suspicion of cooperation with Israel. Iranian state media reported this on Wednesday, two days after the start of a truce that ended 12 days of hostilities between Iran and Israel.

According to the semi-official press agency Fars, the detainees would have been “agents and unconscious participants” to the recent war, and they would have provided hand-and-protection services to the “Zionist regime”. They were arrested by the intelligence service of the revolutionary guard.

Most would have already known, including for “activities against state security”, the spreading of panic among the population and sabotage. The arrests follow briefly on statements by the Israeli army chef Eyal Zamir, who said that Israeli commands were secretly active on Iranian territory during the war.
