The multiband retailer Juttu has developed into an integral part of the Belgian retail landscape. The shopping season also begins there, and buyer Elke Busschodts is preparing for placing the first order for their twelve branches from Antwerp to Liège.

How was the past spring season?

Very good. The beautiful weather played early, which certainly contributed to this. We are very satisfied with the results and were able to record beautiful growth. We also opened a new branch in Mechelen.

Were there in the range that were particularly well sold?

Everything went well except for the jackets. We had little rain. We have rain jackets, for example, in our range, and this is the only category that went less well. The other product groups sold really well.

What influence does such a good spring have on shopping for FS26?

We hope for further growth and therefore plan an expansion. A new branch in East end is already planned for autumn. This is positive for the FS26 season, because then we have two branches on the coast. We look forward to it. We want to be careful, but still achieve good growth.

How do you prepare for the shopping season?

We visit the trade fairs. This season we go back to the fashion specification in the Netherlands and usually also to the Ciff in Copenhagen. Not this time, but we try to go to Copenhagen at least once a year.

I also try to read a lot of magazines, and WGSN is also important for us to stay up to date. You always have very good, clear reports and analyzes.

Have the Belgian consumers changed: inside in recent years?

Customer: Inside ask a wide range of pants. We have invested strongly in this area, with good results. This put the category under pressure under pressure. However, we see that the customer: In the inside, reinforced ask again. So it is a challenge to do justice to this needs in the coming seasons.

Our customers: inside like a casual look, but just as much real trend parts. So we try to offer a good mix of casual articles that you can easily wear and special parts to combine.

Is there also space for new brands in the portfolio?

Some novelties come for winter. There are a few new brands with which we will start. It is important to ensure continuity. But we still try regularly or every season to offer something new. This can be both in the clothes and in our Home & Deco or Beauty range.

What is the relationship between the preliminary order and the follow -up order during the season?

We always keep room for post -purchases in the season to stay flexible. To always feel good with our basics. But also to be able to react to last-minute trends that the brands sometimes took up a little too late for the pre-collections. So we always keep a good budget open, and of course that also gives us flexibility if things are going a little worse in the season. So we keep enough space to react during the season.

It is not always easy to react very short -term. But we have enough brands that also rely on express collections and always come with something new. Above all, we want to have the right trends in the shop that we sometimes miss in the pre-collections. Most of the time we manage to find them.

Are there any other trends that you put on?

We sell a lot. And not necessarily basic denims, but rather trend parts in denim quality. In the past seasons we have seen very nice growth. The style also fits the casual chic style of the Juttu-Kund: inside. With the brands we still see many beautiful variations from Denim, so that’s something that we continue to rely on.

Did you also have sustainability requirements when shopping?

Sure, we have an entire program. We try to work on our suppliers: to stimulate as well as possible. We also want to continue growing in the share of the sustainable offer.
