The Public Prosecution Service (OM) wants a 22-year-old man from Rotterdam to be sentenced to two years in prison for his role in blowing up a house in Schoonoord in March last year.

In the eyes of the OM, the Rotterdammer took care of the transport of the perpetrator, the then 17-year-old bomber. The man has since been sentenced in his hometown to six months of juvenile detention, of which two months are conditional. Why the house was blown up is completely unclear, the public prosecutor said. “It seems strong that this is a mistake.”

The house on the Brugstraat was the target of two explosions last year. During the first explosion on March 13, the windows and the front door flew out. With the help of local residents, the holes were closed. The couple decided to stay in their home again the night after.

Around three o’clock in the night the woman woke up with a hissing sound. Immediately afterwards, a neighbor beat the window; There was a fire. The elderly couple was barely out of their home when a huge explosion followed. The man was in a shock. He beat Wartaal and his blood pressure was towering. He was taken to the hospital.

“You suddenly lose everything, why?”, The residents’ lawyer said on Tuesday during the right to speak. The fear is still good, the couple did not dare to come to court. They had been living in the house for more than forty years and the house had been renovated shortly before the explosion. After the attack it was completely uninhabitable and had to be broken down.

As if it wasn’t enough, the couple were startled almost a month later by an explosion in their son’s home in Easterein, Frisian. The son was slightly injured. The victims are wondering to this day why this happened to them. The 22-year-old Rotterdammer was on trial for his role in the second explosion in Schoonoord.

The public prosecutor did not notice any empathy with the 22-year-old suspect on Tuesday. He knows nothing to remember or does not want to mention names. Everything indicates, according to the prosecutor, that the man loves the stupid. According to him, there is sufficient evidence in his telephones and that of the co -suspects that the Rotterdammer was aware of everything.

According to the OM, he was closely related to a 29-year-old fellow countryman who made the bombs. On the phone of this suspect were videos of taping of cobras on bottles of methanol (flammable liquid). Such a bottle was also found in the destroyed home in Schoonoord. The 29-year-old is also associated with other explosions. His case is being settled in Noord-Holland.

The court makes a decision on 8 July.
