The accident happened a little after five in the morning. Perhaps the cyclist followed the cycle path on the roundabout when she was hit by a car from a man from Roeselare. He came from Westlaan. The woman, also from Roeselare, ended up against the windshield of the small car, among other things.
The woman was seriously injured and died on the spot. The motorist was very impressed with the event. The man is 41 and was not under the influence. The police partially closed the roundabout for traffic. That caused limited nuisance. The Public Prosecutor of Kortrijk sent a traffic expert on site to reconstruct the circumstances of the accident.
