The soldiers who were stuck in Iraq, after a stopover in Jordan, landed at the airport of Eindhoven, reports an ANP photographer. The seventy soldiers were stuck because the airspace above Iraq was closed due to the war between Israel and Iran.
The soldiers of the 11 airmobile brigade were in Iraq for a NATO mission. Their commitment will expire at the end of this month.
The Netherlands contributes a total of 145 soldiers to the mission. Among other things, they are concerned with securing NATO mission advisers. The rest of the soldiers will return later.
