Lena Oberdorf, who did not collect a game practice after a cruciate ligament rupture about eleven months ago, is not in the German European Championship squad. National coach Christian Wück explained this decision in an interview with RTL/NTV and Sport.de.

I think there are several reasons. I think we have a responsibility as a trainer, as a trainer, in the team’s team. She is still a relatively young player who hopefully can play a few more tournaments. Of course I would have liked to have had her with me, not only on the pitch, but also next to the square. But we noticed in the phase where she was with us, where we saw her with our own eyes in training that the 100 % are the requirements, just lacked a few points. And therefore we made the decision to really show a clear edge, to tell her early on that we will do without her that she should now go mentally and physically, that she can really compete with Bayern to prepare and then hopefully play an injury -free season.
