Hartman announced the campaign in April because, after thirteen years, Strik is still reminded of an item that the presenter made with him. In the video in question, Strik was asked to describe an antique basket, but Hartman thought it was too long and asked several times if it could also be shorter. In the end, nothing more was left than ‘basket’. That term then civilized in, up to the Lower House.
“I see it as a grief for the suffering that you are affected and a reparation on behalf of the Dutch people and me for milking you as a person,” says Hartman in a video on Instagram, while handing the check to the now 82-year-old bow.
The amount is less than Hartman had in mind. In April he said he wanted to raise 2 million euros.
