The Spanish brothers Marc and Álex Márquez are still the measure of things in the MotoGP World Cup.

The six-time royal class champion Marc Márquez won the ninth World Cup run on Sunday at the Grand Prix of Italy in Mugello in front of his younger brother Álex.

The two Ducati pilots expanded their lead overall, it was already the twelfth double success of the year (sprints and main races).

Marc Márquez, who had won his 100 Grand Prix poles across classes, celebrated his fifth GP victory of the year with almost two seconds. The Italian Fabio di Giannantonio (Ducati) took third place in the home game after a strong final phase. In the World Cup ranking, Marc Márquez is now 40 points ahead of his brother, the distance from ex-world champion Francesco Bagnaia, who was fourth, is already 110 points.

There are a total of 22 World Cup weekends on the program, including at the Sachsenring (July 12/13). The season ends in Valencia in November.
