A very large fire is currently raging on the site of the Cose Cose in Peest. It is a thatched building on the site on the Hoofdweg.
According to Edwin Veldman of the Drenthe Safety Region, it is a large barn of the care location. The flames hit meters high from the roof and the entire building is on fire.
Fire brigade posts from several places have been called to fight the fire. A so-called GRIP 1 situation has been scaled up. Veldman of the Security Region: “We did that to initiate the eviction as quickly as possible, there is a risk that the fire will spread to the main building where the clients live.” All residents were safely brought out. As far as we know, nobody was injured.
Cose has a commuting farm in Peest, including for people with intellectual disabilities. At the location there are 17 apartments for clients who live and work there.
The barn on fire can be considered lost. The fire brigade now focuses primarily on the preservation of surrounding buildings. How the fire originated is not yet known.
