Have a book write about yourself. That did the phenomenon of Sleen Wim Jansen. Journalist Roy Schriemer wrote the biography about the cyclist, concrete specialist and organizer of events.
“My grandchildren actually forced me to me,” says Jansen in the Radio Drenthe program Cassata. “They wanted to know what grandpa had done and how it could be what he had done.”
Jansen will be 69 this year and still cannot sit still. “I have organized very nice things with my wife Trijntje for fifty years. The six -day of the North in the Prince Bernardhoeve was one of the most beautiful events.”
Jansen is a cycling fanatic and has all kinds of cycling events to his name in addition to the six -day event. Such as the NK time trial, the Hondsrugclassic and the Golden Pijl.
In 2012 he was also a year general manager of the SC Veendam. “That did not go completely as I wanted,” he says about that. “I thought: I can organize sporting events,” keeping my company running, so I thought football should also succeed. But it was too big a step and I got into a split and it went wrong very quickly. That is why my concrete consultancy went bankrupt. But that also belongs to me. I learn from that. And my company is still there. “
Jansen knows almost everyone in the cycling world. For example, Joop Zoetemelk has the first copy of the book last week Phenomenon in Sleen received.
