From a single terrorist, to attacks with drones and small boats and aircraft hoods: the navy takes the navy into account. To guarantee safety of the dozens of world leaders and ministers and thousands of delegation members who are at the NATO summit, the Ministry of Defense takes everything out of the closet. The seven naval vessels are already in front of the South Holland coast.

“It is now a kind of practice week,” says spokesman Alex Kranenburg of the Navy. “However, large ships are no longer allowed to sail between Noordwijk and Hoek van Holland. From Monday afternoon there is also a sailing ban for the smaller ships.”

Nothing left to chance

The NATO summit is on Tuesday and Wednesday in The Hague. Nothing is left to chance. Kranenburg: “The world has not become safer and we don’t want to take any risks.”
