A motorist was arrested on Friday evening at Heerle after a police pursuit with several units. A man had passed on that the driver had ran away with his car in Bergen op Zoom. But when the chased motorist was stopped, the story turned out to be very different.
After the pursuit, the suspect indicated that the car in which he drove was from him. Agents watched this and this turned out to be the case.
Some time ago the suspect had bought the car via Marktplaats from the reporter of the theft. The car was transferred to its name and the car was therefore officially its possession. However, it was not yet paid.
A conflict had arisen about this. The seller reported that his car had been stolen. “Because this is a conflict between citizens, the seller has to contract a case about this at the court,” the police said. That is why the suspect was immediately released after consultation with an auxiliary public prosecutor.
