Promes – ex Ajax and Spartak Moscow, among others, and former Dutch national team – had been arrested in Dubai in March 2024, but Dutch prosecutors had said that it was a local crime and not linked to the cases in progress in the Netherlands. At the beginning of this month, Promes told Rtl Boulevard that he had tried to reach an agreement with the General Prosecutor and that he would go to the Netherlands for the appeal process, however, that he was not arrested in order to continue his football career while the appeal process was still underway. The extradition, requested for some time by the Netherlands, has in fact canceled this request and now the footballer will have to serve his sentence. It is not yet clear where Promes will be retained – specifies De Telegraaf as further detail – but it will be expected that it will not go to the penitentiary institutions of Vught or Zaanstad, the same where the co -mano are already detained.
