According to the 33-year-old Rebecca, she is not the only victim and she hears Van Buren that they have also lost things. “Our landlord was told us that it would be safe here when we couldn’t go home;” not so. “
Rebecca lives in one of the 66 apartments in the residential complex on Titianialaan/Umbriëllaan. There broke a big fire out after an explosion in one of the houses. Residents can only after weeks again Because the damage to the complex first had to be restored. Thirteen apartments are uninhabitable for a long time.
Happy to be back, but not in this way
Since last Tuesday, Rebecca has the key back from her home on the top floor. “Because I am quite far from the explosion, there was little damage in my house except the opened front door. And there is still a smoke smell. But I am also happy that I am back my own place, because I am a bit too old to live with my parents,” she laughs.
But she had imagined the return to her house. “I admit: my apartment is quite messy normally, but how I found it last Tuesday, I was shocked. Everything seemed to be turned upside down. And when I discovered while cleaning up that I was robbed, I really felt very bad: someone went through my things.”
Rebecca has been living in the complex for five years and does not have it very wide. “I live from seventy euros a week before groceries. And oddly enough, I don’t think that phone – a spare copy – and that savings – for emergencies – is not even the worst. My expensive shampoo is the most annoying. I want to be able to take good care of myself.”
But that was not all she lost.
