Miia Laitinen considers his queen years an educational journey. Laitinen was crowned in July 2024 as a tango queen at the Tango Market in Seinäjoki. At the same time, Harri Hautaniemi was crowned the tango king. The royal stage dance tour taught Laitinen a lot about dance music and stage dance culture.
However, immediately after the crown, the tango royals received a reception that Laitinen could not prepare for. Lait and Hautaniemi were even called “the worst tango king of all time”.
The comments were annoying, but Laitinen did not take them too personally.
– But those are the voices of certain types of people and they probably have a really great bitterness and contradiction with themselves. I won’t take it in person. I understand that people are different and you can never succeed perfectly, Laitinen tells Iltalehti.
– I don’t know if the commentators themselves have had a dream that has gone a lot or what this is. I think it should be not done because it does not bring anything good to this world. They too could have a different life if they learned to love themselves and other people, he continues.
Some comments also focused on music -independent things, such as Laitinen’s appearance.
– One comment claimed that I was chosen as the winner because “I’m a miss”. I have never considered myself as a mission or very nice, and beauty has not been a priority in my life. It’s exciting that because of my height, for example, I am said that.

Tough year
Laitinen’s tango trip was overshadowed by great sorrow. Laitinen’s close friend died just a few weeks before the finals. Sadness and crying influenced Laitinen’s voice, and he could not sing in the finals of the competition in his full power.
A friend was in Laitinen’s support team in 2023 when he reached the finals.
– He was my first dance friend. Certain rods reminded me of him. For example presented by Aino Niemi Light in the window -In the song, I cried a lot and I almost couldn’t stop, Laitinen recalls touchingly.
– I also had heavy pressures on the finals day and very little sleep. My first dance friend was really important to me, in principle he taught me the most important steps of life dance and his trust. It was really hard to sing that song, Laitinen continues.
Laitinen is grateful that the jury saw the sadness and difficult times and looked at his skills holistically.
– After all, the audience does not see all the performances and situations, even though we are chosen, Laitinen continues.

A little gig
Laitinen has not had gigs this year as desired. The royalists went on a joint tour immediately after the victory, but after Christmas, the gigs declined dramatically. With the exception of a few random gigs, Laitinen is currently unemployed. The situation has caused him stress, but at the same time Laitinen could think about what he really wants.
– I’m looking for a job. Last spring I was in unemployment training in the media industry for five months. This year I have not found any suitable job after this tango queen. However, I do not want to go to telephone sales, so no suitable one has been found.
– I’ve also applied for scholarships. I find it great to be able to make music more holistically than just gig. However, that other work will not be paid unless you receive scholarships.
The reigning tango queen has followed this year’s competition with great interest. Laitinen has clear pre -favorites to become royal, but he only intends to keep these as his own information. This year, the winners will be selected by public vote.
Laitinen has a contradictory feeling about the reform.
– The audience has requested that voting right. However, I think it is good that the judges choose superfinalists, as people who really can do it must be sent to the stage. It’s hard physical work.
– I think for me, the competition would have gone quite different, because this is where the competition is voted for those who have already been known. I wouldn’t have won by any means then.
