On the one hand, SV Werder Bremen has again made nails with heads and announced the next extension within a few days and, on the other hand, revealed how it continues with a permanent favorite.
Leonardo Bittencourt is something of a standing male at SV Werder Bremen. Again and again the midfielder was written off in the past, and again and again he suddenly stood in the field again and again. The veteran seems to be extremely important for the climate in the team.
However, because Bittencourt’s contract ends in the coming year, many observers assumed that the 31-year-old could go this summer. But that doesn’t seem to be the case. Because Werder has other things with Bittencourt.
“We are also planning for the coming year with Leo. This has been discussed with Horst Steffen,” reveals sports director Clemens Fritz the “Deichstube.”
According to the club -related portal, Werder could be ready to talk about in a suitable offer despite the clear words, but currently nothing points out that a corresponding offer for the midfielder is turning in.
It was different with Niklas. The defender is one of the undisputed supports in the Werder team.
Werder extends with strong
And to prevent possible advances and because Stark’s contract would actually have expired in the summer of 2026, the green-whites have now extended the working paper with the central defender. The Weser club announced this on Thursday. As usual, Werder did not provide any information about the new term.
“Niklas has fulfilled the expectations set in it in recent years, so it quickly became clear to us that we wanted to continue with him,” said license player boss Peter Niemeyer about the defenseman, who had switched from Hertha BSC to the Bremern in 2022.
“He is a top performer and leader in our team and also plays an important role for the team next to the square. We are happy that he is convinced of the Werder-Weg and sees his future with us,” added Niemeyer.
Werder busy with extensions
Meanwhile, Stark himself said: “I feel very comfortable with Werder and in the city.” He also praised the “positive sporting development” that the club has taken in the past three years. He was “convinced that this path is not yet over. I am very much looking forward to being able to help shape the future of Werder,” said strong.
The second professional who has signed a new working paper within a few days is strong. Werder previously reported the extension with goalkeeper Mio Backhaus. Unlike strong, however, this is “only” planned as a replacement behind Stammtorwart Michael Zetterer. In any case, as long as the merged Zetterer does not choose a change.
The 30-year-old Stark looks back on 75 competitive games in the Werder jersey. 2025/26 will now be added under the new trainer Horst Steffen.
