Humberto Tan really scores much better than Arjen Lubach now that he broadcasts at the same time. That raises the question: how meaningful is it that the late talk show always has to shift for Arjen?
If Arjen Lubach is not on vacation, then the entire schedule of RTL 4 has to go. His Lubach is the late evening show, while the late programs of Beau van Erven Dorens, Humberto Tan and Renze Klamer have to make way to about half an hour later. Now that Arjen is back in his hammock and Humberto is at that earlier time, RTL scores Torenhoog.

Humberto is now at exactly the same time as Arjen is always standing and simply scores better than the satirist, writes TV authority Tina Nijkamp on her analysis canal. “Humberto in particular is flourishing. At RTL 4 he just scores higher market shares than Lubach last week. 33.7 (!) Percent in the commercial target group 25 to 54 years.”
This is’ huge ‘high’, says Tina. For comparison: Lubach noted 23.3 percent last Wednesday. “Now that Lubach is no longer in front of him, of course, that RTL talk show starts earlier than the past eleven weeks. And yes, especially in the 25-54 years you see that the market share is extremely high,” she adds in her podcast Tina’s TV UPDATE.
Viewing record record
There is a record, according to Tina. “It was the best scoring program in that target group of the entire day in the Netherlands. I just checked that and as far as I could search, it is also a record of the RTL talk show. In any case, the past five years.”
She continues: “I can’t quite search it back, but I think the RTL talk show has never had such a high market share for a regular episode.”
Arjen in section?
It does raise the question: to what extent does RTL actually need that precious Arjen? Doesn’t he hind the late evening? Perhaps it is time for RTL to turn it around: let Lubach come after the late talk show from now on, instead of before. Then Humberto, Renze or Beau – after the summer of RTL Tonight – can start at the same time all year round.
If that is too late, they can give Arjen a fixed section in RTL Tonight, just like Jaïr Ferwerda, instead of his own program. Reading aloud for ten minutes or fifteen minutes and then no one is bothered by those painfully bad studio guests: Beau, Humberto and Renze already interview. After all. Win-win situation.
