She brightens up Assen completely when she with her hug scooter through the city of Sjest. With her homemade creation, Johanna Hindriks (72) has even become a well -known Assenaar.
“Looks nice”, a passer -by calls to Johanna when he walks past her mobility scooter. “How often I should say thank you, I don’t remember,” laughs Johanna.
The first two hugs that Johanna attached to her scooter were a white panda and a hug by Bob Marley in his younger years. “I have been so brutal. At a construction company I asked for a tube, there I burned holes with a knitting needle. Then I started building up.” In the meantime, her mobility scooter is being cheered up by dozens of hugs.
Completely dressed, which flows into the blood of the Hindriks family. The famous Oranje Indian, Hindriks, turns out to be a cousin of Johanna. “Isn’t that can’t be otherwise?”
What has Johanna actually brought this ‘hug’ idea? “Maybe I am not cuddled enough myself. I have been alone since 1998, but still together with my two dogs.”
