RAdd the inclusion and overcome disability thanks to the commitment in the artistic field. This is the goal that has been carrying out for almost twenty years Art in the heartthe first European inclusive artistic training project who works on integration to develop talent in an integrated environment. Art can become Like this An extraordinary opportunity to overcome challenges that daily life presents people with disabilities every day.
Inclusion: when talent breaks down barriers
“Even the boys with disabilities, if adequately trained, can work. Many of our students testify to this. Why where there is talent there are no barriers. In our academy, pupils work together, in the same class, without making any kind of distinction. Thanks to this sharing even the so -called “deserving” boys have passed their difficultieswinning shyness and increasing their self -esteem, taking just as a guide the strength and will of the boys with disabilities », he explains Daniela Alleruzzopresident of art in the heart.
To each his own way of expression
«Each person, with or without disabilities, has a natural mode of expression. We have five senses, but everyone tends to prefer or develop one in particular. Some notice visual shades, others develop a very refined tact well above the average. Those who do not see, often develop a hearing and an extraordinary perception. There are those who have a superfine taste, such as tastings, or those who own a sense of smell so developed as to be able to create complex fragrances. Depending on the stimuli and experiences we live, we can develop different skills. The name itself says it, “art in the heart”, and in the heart we are all the same. We have all the potential, but everyone develops them based on the context, the environment, to the experiences. Those who are born in the mountains most likely learn to ski, those who grow to the sea usually can swim », underline the Dr. Marinella Cozzolinopsychotherapist, clinical sexologist.
Art and inclusion
«I didn’t want to create a happy island: art in the heart It is not only dedicated to children with disabilities, but it is also open to children without disabilities. Because only when you share a dream, a project, can mental and cultural barriers be reduced. Art, in all its form, is a tool of inclusion, a form of natural therapy. The theater, for example, helps not only people with disabilities but also those without disabilities who perhaps have difficulty relating, to open up. It allows them to develop new skills, to free the imagination and self -confidence. Art becomes an instrument of strength. Let’s not see them as a weight, but as a resource for society», Continues Alteruzzo.
Inclusion: how to learn from those around us
“Any physical difficulty can become an opportunity to enhance another ability. But this applies to everyone: Even people without disabilities have many potential that often do not developor have no way of expressing. It is on these differences that we must reflect. When we relate to others, we often overcome their difficulties and see everything else. This trains us to adapt, to listen, to build authentic relationships. It is a mutual enrichment, continuous learning. Observe how the other overcomes his obstacles teaches us something: if I am afraid of the dark and Giulia lives in the dark and loves life the same, then I can learn from her », concludes Cozzolino.
