Dolly Parton receives the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award
The 79-year-old Parton, who was also shown in various films during her singing career, receives the so-called Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award for her charity work. Partons Imagination Library has provided more than 284 million free books to children in thirty years, according to the website of the organization. Parton also has no Oscar yet: she was nominated twice for best song in the films 9 to 5 and Transamerica.
The winners will receive their Oscar statues during the annual Governors Awards Gala in November.
