Heiner Backhaus is the new coach of the second division club Eintracht Braunschweig. The 43-year-old comes from Alemannia Aachen and, according to club information, signed a two-year contract. In the third division club, the coach still had a contract until 2027, which is why a transfer fee of 100,000 euros was due.
“The two seasons that Heiner spent with us in Aachen were of great success. With him as a coach, we made the jump back to the 3rd league. We were well aware that this success was not hidden. With Eintracht Braunschweig, we can now find a fair solution for all sides. Backhaus played for Red-Weiß Essen, Hannover 96 and the 1st FC Union Berlin before working as a professional in four different countries. As a trainer, he worked for BSV Rehden, Rot-Weiß Koblenz and the BFC Dynamo in Berlin, last year he led the former Bundesliga club Aachen back to the 3rd division.
