Surprises were seen on the Helsinki City Festival’s closing day. Even the congestion of the first day of the festival made it easier.

Jenni Vartiainen’s graphical background fabric was really impressive. The performance was great. Mikko Räsänen

Jenni Vartiainen may not have been the most famous performer at the Helsinki City Festival’s second day, but she might have been the best. Vartiainen’s stage structure with its statues on the main stage of the event was a magnificent, back fabric -like three -dimensional image of Vartiainen’s face, and Vartiainen’s striped outfit is perfect for it.

In the end, however, the best thing about the gig was Vartiainen himself. At Töölö Summer evening, he was sensitive, strong and confident and took the audience over there. Exceptional sensitivity was seen as Vartiainen moved into tears during a few of his songs.

Tears were seen without hesitation after the song. “I want but you don’t know, I threw it all to go, without hesitation for a moment,”Vartiainen interpreted with such force and emotion that he wiped his tears at the end of the song.

For the second time, tears were seen where the song My Murus is. Before the songs, Vartiainen instructed the audience to take his crumb in the armpit, if one stands next to him, and if the crumb is gone, to think of him. He did not tell who he thought at that moment, but the song again got him tears.

Gimmel hit at Rovio represented the more lighter side of the concert. In the early stages of his solo career, Vartiainen did not want to remember his Gimmel-likeness, not to mention that he had performed the songs of those years. Now he did so cheerful, and after the song, he asked the audience to look up or down with his thumb whether this had been a good or bad idea.

The whole sea of the upright thumbs rose in front.

Oku Luukkainen surprised his audience when he announced Jimi’s skull. Mikko Räsänen

There were also surprises in the ice rink. Oku Luukkainen was already about to finish his own gig when he suddenly asked Jimi Pääkallo, a singer of Technicolour singer on stage.

Luukkainen and Technicolour released a joint version of the old movie hits here this week to a lotus position. However, joint deposits were not marked in the program.

– This was agreed yesterday. We have never performed together before, and we did not have time to practice the performance, Luukkainen felt well after the gig.

Surprises were also seen elsewhere. The Swedish Eurodance band Solid Base was surprised by the rapper Totte Nordin There was no permanent singer at the side Jenny Redenkvist but Solid Base in 2017 departed Camilla Alvestad. It is not known to be a crew change, but Alvestad is only temporarily tinging about Redenkvist.

On the first day of the Helsinki City Festival, problems arose in the headlines. The sold-out area seemed too full because the transition in the crowd was laborious, and toilet queues and queues in front of the food and drinking points were unnecessarily long.

The signs were incomplete and that is why the routes were filled as people were looking for food, drink, toilet, water point, out, or just each other.

On Saturday, the event was sold out, but no similar congestion was experienced, but the area worked much better. The reason for the change is not fully known. It may also be that there was no other reason. Some changes had made the organizers after the first day, and the festival staff at the event for the second day had also learned to move around the area, and there was not as much wandering as the first day.
