People had already noticed that the party hit ‘Baila de Gasolina’ from the Feestact Effe seriously suspicious looks a lot like the song ‘Baila’ from BZB (band without banana). And that’s right, because the party number is inspired by the version that BZB made of the originally Spanish -speaking song. “It is super nice that the men from Effe seriously score a big hit with their own version,” says BZB leader Fred van Dijk.
Brabant music lovers already recognized the song, but not as the ‘Baila’ of Effe seriously, but as that of BZB (band without banana) from Volkel. “This is just a song from Band Without Banana?” Richard Engelen writes. For example, Judith van den Bliek says that the party version “is a great cover, but that Effe seriously did not make the song himself.”
That turns out to be correct, because the party number is inspired by the BZB version, confirms BZB frontman Fred van Dijk. “We were neatly informed in advance by the men of Effe Seriously. They even asked us to enter into a collaboration, but we only perform ten times a year and in turn have fitted.”
“We now have the song on our own set list again.”
He did not expect that the version of the Liempde party act would be such a hit. “Over the years, songs from us have often been used as inspiration. Usually without success,” says Van Dijk. “It is super nice that the men of Effe seriously succeeded.”
Who are serious effe?
‘Effe seriously’ consists of four friends: Thomas, René, Stephan, Mike and Milan. They come from Liempde, Schijndel and Lith. Their party act has been around for ten years, but now the four really break through with their hit. The song ‘Baila de Gasolina’ is about guys who eat after a performance at the Frikandellen gas station.
The popularity of the party version ensured that BZB added their own version of ‘Baila’ to the set list. According to Fred van Dijk, their version is also inspired by a Spanish -language version of the song. “It has not been with us for years on the set list, but has now been given a place again,” says Van Dijk.
When asked whether the band is not disappointing afterwards that they have not entered into a collaboration with Effe seriously, Van Dijk is clear: “In retrospect it is easy to talk, but I am not going to nag about it. They just did it very well.”
