The Darts World Cup 2026 will also take place in the new XXL format in Alexandra Palace in London.
As in previous years, the tournament will begin in the West Hall in December of this year and end there in January, as the World Cup of the “German Press Agency” announced at the World Cup in Frankfurt.
There are no exact frame data for the event extended to 128 participants.
In April, Managing Director Matthew Porter vaguited to the question. “I know where the World Cup will be played. We will announced that shortly,” Porter had emphasized in an interview. However, there was no official announcement.
One million pounds for the world champion
The West Hall has about 3,500 spectator places and is therefore significantly smaller than the Great Hall, which is also located in Alexandra Palace in the north of London.
There was always speculation about a departure from the British island – for example to Saudi Arabia. So far, these rumors have not been really specific.
The PDC not only increased the field of 96 to 128, but also doubled the prize money for the title holder. Instead of £ 500,000, there will be one million pounds (just under 1.2 million euros) for the winner of the most important darts tournament in the world.
“The prize money reflects the status of the darts as one of the most exciting and sought -after sports in the world,” said Porter.
Eight additional sessions in London
Due to the increase, all top players around world champion Luke Littler will also have to compete in the first round. In the future, the Darts World Cup will work like a Grand Slam tournament in tennis. It is still only played in co-mode.
Compared to the previous tournament, there are also 32 additional games and eight extra sessions that generate further ticket revenue in Alexandra Palace. It is expected that the World Cup could begin four days earlier – on the 11th instead of December 15th.
