Bundesliga club sues his own sponsor

Winamax as a sponsor adorned the VfB Stuttgart jersey for two years. The collaboration ends in a dispute – and also in court.
The trouble had been indicated for a long time – now the dispute between VfB Stuttgart and its main sponsor Winamax escalated. The Bundesliga club has filed a lawsuit at the civil chamber of the Stuttgart Regional Court. The reason: The French betting provider hired all payments from the current contract in spring 2025. The club announced this on Friday.
Despite multiple reminders, the company had not transferred any money. According to VfB, the judicial discussion is “necessary and essential”, since all the association’s extrajudicial efforts have failed.
Cooperation with Winamax officially runs until June 30th. The company’s entry two years ago was controversial – both for fans and the investor Porsche. After the end of the contract, the Landesbank Baden-Württemberg takes over as the main and jerseys.
Already at the cup final in May the LBBW was on the jersey breast of the Stuttgart – no longer Winamax. As a result, the previous sponsor had accused the association in transparency and spoke of “call and business-damaging actions”.
