The German Football Association (DFB) has named eight venues with which he will apply for the EM 2029 of women. Berlin is among the three dilated cities.
As the DFB announced on Friday (June 13, 2025), he will submit the final application documents with the big stadiums in the following cities: Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hanover, Cologne, Leipzig, Munich, Wolfsburg.
The association had followed the decision made by the Presidium a recommendation of an expert body. Together with an internal DFB working group, this spotted and evaluated the application documents of eleven cities and stadiums that remained in the selection process after a pre-selection.
The locations Berlin, Gelsenkirchen and Rostock were deleted.
UEFA’s decision in December
By August 27, all documents must be submitted to the UEFA. In December of this year, the UEFA Executive Committee will decide on the organizer. There are four other preliminary applications:
- Denmark/Sweden
- Portugal
- Poland
- Italy
In 1989 and 2001 two EM finals have taken place in 1989 and 2001, and Germany also organized the 2011 World Cup. After the men’s European Championships in the summer of 2024, the Women’s European Championships would be the next big football tournament in Germany.

DFB was subject to application for World Cup 2027
The DFB had recently failed with a joint application with the Netherlands and Belgium for the Women’s World Cup 2027, which is held in Brazil. The FIFA Congress in Bangkok voted 119: 78 votes for the application from Brazil in May 2024.
At that time, however, the European application was considered an outsider anyway. Because never before had a WM of women in South America took place, FIFA also gave the Brazilian application a better grade in their pre -published test reports.
