Where neighboring municipality of Amstelveen regularly closes buildings because sex workers deserve their sandwiches illegally, this is less common in Uithoorn. In fact, according to the municipality, it is for the first time in years that a home is sealed for that reason.
For privacy reasons, the municipality does not want to share the exact address or the street name. It is known, however, that the official tenant had not been living in the house for half a year, and the house ‘for a lot of money’ was subjected.
‘Living-liftability at stake’
Because of this construction and the use of the house as a brothel, the quality of life in the neighborhood is affected, the municipality states. “If there are illegal practices and safety as well as the living-lifeleability for the local residents is at stake, I will not hesitate to intervene,” the mayor says in a press release.
The municipality is happy that local residents complained about the home, because intervention became possible.
A spokesperson emphasizes that there was no human trafficking or forced prostitution. The persons found have been referred to the municipality’s care coordinator. He guides those involved to the right aid agencies. The housing corporation has also been informed.
