GroenLinks-PvdA is concerned about the plans for gas extraction at Vledder. Member of Parliament Julian Bushoff, raised in Roderwolde, has therefore asked the cabinet questions. He believes that the inhabitants of the area and the local municipalities should be listened to better.
According to Bushoff, mistakes that have been made in Groningen must be avoided “at all costs”. The politician actually argues for no gas at all in the Vledder region, but if it still continues, according to him there must be reverse burden of proof. If there is damage, the gas winner, in this case Vermilion, must prove that this is not due to its activities.
On Wednesday evening, residents of Vledder were briefed about the plans of the Canadian company Vermilion. The gas winner is looking for new places and has caught the eye at two locations between Vledder, Vledderveen and Wilhelminaoord. Experts were there to answer technical questions. Moreover, the municipality of Westerveld came up with a clear message: it is against gas extraction in the area.
Member of Parliament Bushoff responds to the uncertainties and question marks that play in the region and asks, among other things, whether the cabinet is willing to conduct a survey among all residents on whom gas extraction has an impact. He also asks to map on how many inhabitants would have gas extraction impact and whether they have all had the opportunity to be heard.
The land on which Vermilion wants to drill is not the property of the municipality or Vermilion. The owner of the land would have already signed a so -called declaration of intent with Vermilion.
