The three would have collected pyrotechnic materials. They had also looked up information about firearms, shooting positions and combat actions. According to the ministry, the men visited shooting ranges and performed military-tactical exercises.
‘Fascinated by ideology Breivik and Tarrant’
Other Breivik and Brenton Tarrant, among others, are mentioned as sources of inspiration. The suspects “were fascinated by their ideology, analyzed how they carried out the attacks and what mistakes they made,” said the ministry.
Breivik killed 77 people in Norway in 2011. He first let a bomb go in the capital Oslo and then shot participants of a youth camp on the island of Utøya. In 2019, Tarrant shot 51 Moskeegangers dead in the New Zealand Christchurch.
