“Valuable team player”: Schalke extends with goalkeeper

The Bundesliga season is just over. But the clubs are already planning for the coming season. All important news in the transfer ticker.
This year’s transfer summer has it all. This is because the clubs are allowed to sign players for the first time in two different periods. Due to the club World Cup, the first transfer window for the participating clubs was open from June 1st to June 10th. The regular transfer window then extends from July 1st to September 1st.
Second division Schalke 04 continues to focus on goalkeeper Loris Karius. The “royal blue” have extended the expiring contract with the winter access by two years to 2027, the former goalkeeper from Liverpool will bear the number 1 in the future. FC Schalke announced this on Wednesday. Karius changed to the narrow in January and played four games in the second half of the season, then the 31-year-old stopped a muscle injury in the calf.
“We see Loris as a goalkeeper with very good skills, which is also a valuable team player. We are all the more pleased to continue the way together,” said Youri Mulder, director of professional football. Karius, who has been contractless since the summer of 2024, had signed at Schalke at the beginning of the year, gave his comeback in German professional football two weeks later after four years and, at the end of February, regular goalkeeper Justin Heekeren. At the end of March, he injured himself in the game at SpVgg Greuther Fürth (3: 3).
Bayer Leverkusen continues to drive the long-term rejuvenation of the squad and has signed the French junior national player Axel Tape from Paris Saint-Germain. Bayer claimed the only 17-year-old defensive player, who became the youngsters of the Champions League winner of the Champions League winner last weekend “in the long term” on Wednesday.
“We see very great potential in Axel, his obligation to transfer is an important building block of our future -oriented squad planning,” said Leverkusen’s sports manager Simon Rolfes. The Bundesliga club did not provide precise information on the contract period.
Tape called his move to Bayer a “fantastic way to develop myself early. I am excited and highly motivated to assert myself in Leverkusen.”
Manchester City made the fourth summer transfer perfectly a few days before his opening game at the club World Cup in the USA. After the Algerian left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri (Wolverhampton) and French playmaker Rayan Cherki (Lyon), Dutch international Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan also comes to the top English club.
The 26 -year -old midfielder signed a contract for five years and is said to be the most expensive from the trio of newcomers. According to media reports, City pays a transfer of £ 46.3 million (approx. 55 million euros) for Reijnders. AIT-Nouri and Cherki, including bonuses, are also said to have cost more than 40 million euros. The English goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli also came this week.
