Bayern coach Vincent Kompany would supposedly like to lure one of his former players to Munich. However, the transfer could prove to be an insurmountable hurdle.

Around a week ago, the “L’équipe” reported that Vincent Kompany and FC Bayern had an eye on Burnley’s young defense chief Maxime Estève. A player that the Munich coach still knows from the English club from times together.

The English portal “Football Insider” now wants to have learned from a source close to the club, how high the transfer is that Burnley calls for the 23-year-old central defender. Accordingly, the “Clarets” require a whopping 50 million pounds (almost 60 million euros) for the Frenchman. A sum that should deter the German record champions.

Burnley does not want to give Bayern-Flirt

Because Estève’s contract for the Premier League promoter runs until summer 2029, the English club has the booklet of action in his hand. At FC Burnley, you can see the player as an elementary building block for the company. They would only let him go in return for the said mega revenue.

Estève wrote big headlines last season with Burnley. On the one hand, the return to the Premier League was achieved. On the other hand, Burnley provided the league’s best defense. In 46 games, the team conceded only 16 goals – thanks to Estève, who was on the pitch in all games from the start. The Frenchman was already a regular in the spring of 2024, at that time still under Company.

It is unclear whether the player could even imagine a move to the Bundesliga. Just a few weeks ago, Estève said in an interview that it was his big dream to play with one of the big Premier League clubs. “My wish is to play for a top six club in England. There is no specific club, but my dream is to land there,” the 23-year-old told Footmercato.
